Why do more massive stars host larger planets?

چکیده
It has been suggested that planetary radii increase with the stellar mass, for planets below 6 R$_{\oplus}$ and host 1 M$_\odot$. In this study, we explore whether inferred relation between size star's mass can be explained by a larger among orbiting more massive stars, inflation of radius due to difference in irradiation, or different compositions structures. Using exoplanetary data measured masses radii, investigate relations various properties G- K- confirm stars massive. We find differences temperatures are insufficient explain surrounding types. show fraction volatile material (H-He atmospheres) stars. conclude around most probably as result H-He atmospheres. Our findings imply forming tend accrete atmospheres efficiently.

What Do Stars Tell Us about Planets? Asteroseismology of Exoplanet-host Stars
Studying the internal structure of exoplanet-host stars compared to that of similar stars without detected planets is particularly important for the understanding of planetary formation. The observed average overmetallicity of stars with planets is an interesting point in that respect. In this framework, asteroseismic studies represent an excellent tool to determine the structural differences b...
متن کاملDo Larger Firms Have More Interfirm Relationships?
In this study, we investigate interfirm networks by employing a unique dataset containing information on more than 800,000 Japanese firms, about half of all corporate firms currently operating in Japan. First, we find that the number of relationships, measured by the indegree, has a fat tail distribution, implying that there exist “hub” firms with a large number of relationships. Moreover, the ...
متن کاملFinding Planets around White Dwarf Remnants of Massive Stars
Planet frequency shows a strong positive correlation with host mass from the hydrogen-burning limit to M = 2M⊙. No search has yet been conducted for planets of higher-mass hosts because all existing techniques are insensitive to these planets. We show that infrared observations of the white-dwarf (WD) remnants of massive stars 3M⊙ <M < 7M⊙ would be sensitive to these planets for reasons that ar...
متن کاملLimits on Planets Orbiting Massive Stars from Radio Pulsar Timing
\Vhen a,massive star collapses to a neutron star, rapidly losing over half its mass in a symmetric supernova explosion, any planets orbiting the star will be unbound. ]Iowever, to explain the observed space velocity and binary fraction of radio pulsars, an asymmetric kick must be given to the neutron star at birth. Occasionally, this kick will prevent the resulting pulsar-planet system from unb...
متن کاملThe Host Stars of Extrasolar Planets Have Normal Lithium Abundances
The lithium abundances of planet-harbouring stars have been compared with those of open clusters and field stars. Young (chromospherically active) and subgiant stars have been eliminated from the comparison because they are at different stages of evolution and Li processing to the planet-harbouring stars, and hence have systematically higher Li abundances. The analysis showed that the Li abunda...
